Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 small red chili
  • 2 small onions
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 3 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney or ointo beans, drained and rinsed
  • pinto beans, drained,
  • salt, to taste

Preparation

1. Peel the garlic. Cut the bell pepper and chili in quarters and remove seeds and membranes. Peel and coarsely chop the onions. Place garlic, peppers, red chili and onions in the bowl fitted with the kneading/crushing blade. Chop at speed 11 for 10 seconds.

2. Replace the kneading/crushing blade with the mixer. Add the oil, chili powder, brown sugar and cumin. Launch the P1 simmer program at 270°F for 8 minutes.

3. At the end of the program, add ground beef and pork, crumbling into pieces, and the tomatoes, tomato sauce and beans. Season with salt. Launch the P2 simmer program at 200°F for 45 minutes.

4. Serve immediately.
