Alaskan Shrimp Tacos


Wild-caught Alaskan shrimp are delicious fried in a light coating and nestled inside a warm tortilla.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Shrimp, shelled and deveined (patted dry)
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dark chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 package corn tortillas
  • 1 cup red cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 2 avocados, pitted and thinly sliced (dressed in lime juice to prevent browning)
  • 1-2 red serrano peppers (or similar)
  • 1 lime (for garnish)
  • 1 bunch cilantro
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons chili sauce
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)

Directions

  1. In a bowl whisk together the cornstarch, paprika, chili powder, and salt and pepper. Toss shrimp to thoroughly coat.
  2. Heat a saute pan over medium-high heat and add oil.
  3. Working in batches, cook the shrimp until golden brown about 1-2 minutes. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate.
  4. Build tacos with shrimp, sauce, cabbage, cilantro, avocado, and peppers.
