- Protect your cookware. Maximize performance. Ceramic nonstick cookware delivers excellent food release, but it performs best when treated with care. Improper use is one of the most common reasons customers report reduced performance or damage. This guide will help you avoid those issues and get the most from your cookware.
- Before first use: Wash your new pan with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
- Cooking: Always keep in mind that this cookware is oven safe up to 450°F (232°C) to preserve the nonstick coating, while glass lids are safe up to 350°F (176°C). Ceramic cookware is not broiler safe. Use only low to medium heat as this is the best way to preserve the nonstick coating. High heat is the number one cause of premature wear—it can damage the nonstick layer, cause food to stick, and lead to discoloration. Do not preheat the pan while empty, as this can overheat the surface and cause long-term damage. Always add butter or oil while preheating. If oil begins to smoke, that’s a sign the pan is too hot.
- Avoid using cooking sprays, especially aerosol sprays, as they often leave a residue that builds up and reduces nonstick performance. Instead, use butter or high-smoke-point oils such as avocado, grapeseed, or coconut oil. When it comes to utensils, stick with silicone, nylon, plastic, or wooden tools. Metal utensils can chip, scratch, or wear down the ceramic.
- Take extra care when moving your cookware. Do not slide or drag it across the stovetop, as this can scratch both the cookware and the cooktop. Also, avoid exposing hot pans to cold water, which can warp the base or damage the coating due to thermal shock.
- Allow the pan to cool completely before cleaning to prevent warping. Hand washing is strongly recommended. Do not clean using the dishwasher as this can degrade the coating due to high heat and aggressive detergents. Wash with warm, soapy water using a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners, including oven cleaners, bleach, peroxide-based detergents, steel wool, or abrasive scouring pads, all of which can damage the nonstick surface.
- If you’re dealing with stubborn residue or burned-on food, mix a 1:1 paste of baking soda and vinegar, gently apply it to the problem area, scrub softly, rinse thoroughly, and dry.
- To clean the hard-anodized exterior, hand wash with warm soapy water and use a soft sponge or nylon scrubber. Avoid abrasive pads or strong detergents to preserve the finish.
- For quick reference: Do use low or medium heat, soft utensils, hand washing, high-smoke-point oils, and store your pans with padding between them. Don’t use high heat, metal utensils, dishwashers, cooking sprays, or stack unprotected pans.
- Top items to avoid in order to maintain nonstick performance: high heat, dishwasher use, aggressive cleaners, sponges and scrubbing, tapping or hitting cooking utensils on the rim of the pan.
- With proper care, your ceramic cookware will maintain its nonstick performance. Treat it gently, for reliable, effortless cooking every time.
