Connecticut Steak Sandwich


A great sandwich to enjoy in upstate Connecticut, or where ever you are!

Ingredients

  • 12 oz hanger steak (or similar)
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 clove garlic, unpeeled crushed
  • 2 sprigs rosemary
  • 1 Rustic loaf
  • 1 large heirloom tomato, sliced
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 handful arugula
  • 2 oz. goat cheese
  • olive oil

Directions

  1. Preheat a medium pan over high heat. Season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper. Add oil to the pan and sear steak for about 2 minutes.
  2. Flip and add butter, garlic clove, and rosemary, and baste continuously for 2 minutes until desired temp is reached. Set aside to rest before slicing.
  3. Slice the loaf in half and top with goat cheese, tomato, steak, sliced avocado, and arugula. Season with salt and pepper, and drizzle with olive oil before serving.
